Our contribution through our solutions

Committed to driving the energy transition

Transportation is currently responsible for 17% of annual greenhouse gas emissions globally. It is considered a hard-to-abate sector and the fastest growing source of emissions worldwide. Our fuel systems enable leading original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and fleet owners to make the switch to low-carbon mobility solutions.

Our gas distribution technologies also provide decarbonization and energy security solutions to communities globally. Allowing industrial gas distributors to transport compressed gas to industries and people lacking pipeline infrastructure.

From point of deployment, our solutions can immediately reduce CO2 emissions, positively impacting people and the environment.

Not one single solution can replace diesel

Hexagon's portfolio of companies offers a full range of alternative fuel solutions that can displace diesel. In cooperation with NGO’s and selected partners, we work to educate regulators and customers on the possibilities and limitations of different alternative fuel solutions for commercial vehicles and believe in a diverse mix of low-carbon, renewable energy, and powertrain technologies that can scale-up collectively to permanently reduce the global carbon footprint of the transportation sector.

Avoided emissions

We measure the positive impact our solutions have on the planet. Based on the type of solution we put into operation and the type of fuel they replace, we calculate the emissions avoided. Our alternative fuel solutions deployed in 2023 avoided 1.5 million metric tons of CO2 equivalents.

The use of RNG as a fuel

There is a growing demand for the use of renewable natural gas (RNG) as a transportation fuel. Renewable natural gas is produced from organic and landfill waste. As of today, RNG is the only carbon negative fuel available at scale. A carbon negative fuel means it removes more carbon from the atmosphere than it puts back through burning.
